IMM Presents its 1st Periodic Work Report to the Advisory Board and the MoI
Zagreb, 17th and 18th June 2025 - The Independent Monitoring Mechanism (IMM) presented its 1st Periodic Work Report covering the period between 01/01/2025-31/05/2025 (Report) to the Advisory Board to the IMM (AB) and to the Ministry of the Interior (MoI). IMM’s meeting with the AB was attended by members of the IMM Coordination Board and the Head of Frontex FRO, representatives of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME), and the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA). The Report was presented to the AB by Prof. Dr. Anna-Maria Getoš Kalac, Head of the IMM Coordination Board, followed by Q&A and discussions with the members of the AB, moderated by the Chair of the AB Jonas Grimheden (Frontex Fundamental Rights Office). Following the meeting of the IMM with the AB, the Report was also presented to the MoI.
Throughout the first five months of 2025, the IMM has conducted a total of 20 monitoring missions, which is an average of 4 monitoring missions per month. Said monitoring missions include a total of 77 monitoring operations, including 22 interviews with migrants, 41 covered locations, and thus 14 green border monitorings. Compared to the previous IMM monitoring period, in which 10 monitoring missions had been conducted, the IMM monitoring period between 01/01/2025-31/05/2025 displays a significant increase in IMM’s monitoring missions, operations and activities.
